UNDERTALE: POOPSHITTERS NEWSLETTER | THE BEGINNING
It’s that time of year! The UNDERTALE: Poopshitters DEMO has been out for 3 months now (give or take), so it’s time to move on to what’s next: V1- or so you all think.
Like a lot of more popular mods out there, Poopshitters has decided to go the route of having 0.5 updates, with the demo being no exception.
Whilst the team has been taking a break from working on the mod in October, I, SuxxorState, have been hard at work prepping this update. The Demo Freeplay Update will entail mainly bug fixes, more general content and secrets to find, and a few new songs to play: Dookie and Calamity, as well as giving an overhaul to the infamous “Down to the Bone”- now called “To The Bone”.
To The Bone was originally thrown into the mod at the last second as the impossibly-hard joke song that no one was supposed to really know about.
However, the public took this a bit differently than planned; a lot of people complained about it being inaccessible, or cheated their way into it, only to realize how low quality it is. I think that’s partially my fault, as it was posed as a perfectly accessible song in the files, as well as it having its own trophy to unlock. Ironically enough though, a bit after the demo dropped, JT Music responded to one of our emails and gave us permission to use the song(s)! So, we’re gonna make the conditions to unlock the song less difficult, as well as giving it more content in general, with an overworld segment, a custom pause menu, and a general update to the visuals- however we decided it would be funny to keep it as the one song that never gets source accurate visuals.
As for Dookie and Calamity, while we don’t want to spoil the songs as a whole, we WILL tell you that one has been publicly teased multiple times, being the DokiTale song. The other is a completely new song we decided to make after the demo that’s based on a video out there that you all may or may not have watched- Papyrus’ UNDERTALE Calamity. Funnily enough, we were able to get in contact with the creator of this video, too! So another point for songs with permission/recognition from the original creators.
Right now, we’re kinda unable to work on anything for V1 (thanks doguy, VERY COOL), but it doesn’t mean we aren’t cooking back here.
We have a lot of decisions to make. One being about the trophies you can get in the mod. At the moment, we’re unsatisfied on how the system works. FUN value events getting trophies, all major songs getting FC trophies, too much clutter! Not enough room to make dumb and stupid trophies, not to mention the UI for the trophy menu is a bit clunky, not giving any info about the trophies or any progress until you unlock them- this aspect should be updated in the freeplay update of the demo, which leaves us with the clutter problem. You all will have to wait and see what we have in store for that.
The current plan is to give every update a general “theme”, as well as hopefully release them yearly (if FNF is still alive in 2025). The freeplay update should be out within the next few months (don’t sue us if it isn’t), and V1 should be coming a while after- having a rather chilly theme with it. Overall we have our work cut out for us this time round- it isn’t an FNF mod without an impossibly hard goal to achieve, after all.
We kinda noticed after the demo that showcasing the songs without having them all unlocked and ready to play for content creators kinda downplayed a lot of the songs, so we decided- hey, why not make a streamer build?
So with that in mind- reach out to us! We’re going to give out streamer builds of the freeplay update and V1 when the time comes (streamer build not guaranteed- terms and conditions may apply). If you’re eligible, we’ll add you to a contact list and will send you streamer builds to play when they’re ready, fresh out of the oven.
That’s about it for this newsletter!
We’ll see you again uuh idk tbh we’re gonna do this like once or twice a year maybew
Thank you all for reading and we’ll see you next time!
